Think you have what it takes to be a verifier for the National Green Building Program? Then you are encouraged to apply to become a verifier and sign up for training. Applicants must meet the pre-requisites to participate in training administered by the NAHB Research Center and pass a verifier accreditation test.
Verifier Training Information
When you apply to become a verifier, you must choose a training method. Training options include classroom seminars and self-guided online modules.
These training materials cover the protocol for verifying that a building meets the national certification program requirements to both the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines and the National Green Building Standard, and are intended to ensure all verifiers across the country evaluate buildings in a consistent manner. All training materials, including but not limited to the Verifier's Resource Guides and the Verification Reports, are the property of the Research Center and shall be used exclusively in connection with the Research Center's Green Building Certification.
Additional classroom sessions will be scheduled to coincide with other regional and national trade shows, including the International Builders' Show.
Currently, the NAHB Research Center will not charge a fee for participation in any training sessions, but there is a $125 non-refundable testing fee due and payable before the online test is made available. There is an accreditation/listing fee of $125 for verifiers. A Verifier Agreement must be executed by the prospective verifier and the NAHB Research Center prior to the verifier being listed. Some HBA-sponsored classroom seminars may charge a fee for participants. See session listings for details.
Registration must be submitted at least one week prior to any scheduled classroom seminar to allow time for confirmation of the participant's experience and qualifications by the NAHB Research Center.
